I've cheerio'd the big smoke I've always been a creative sort. At ten I was fashioning wind chimes from old cutlery, marbles & twine, while selling home-baked apple pies to neighbors to fund my crafty pursuits. We lived in country Victoria, Australia, on the windy south west coast and I was definitely a tom boy. I climbed trees like a squirrel, I paid homage to power tools and I understood an extra special drill bit was needed for making holes in those forks marked 'stainless steel'. My weekends were spent reassessing my choice of cubbyhouse tree and making mischief with my animal friends. As a teenager we all moved to the big city, Melbourne. Fashion femininity replaced tom boy antics and I realized my creative craftiness could be put to good wholesome lucrative use. I took up sewing, studied product design and somewhere along the way obtained an engineering degree. These days I work my magic from the Sunshine coast in Queensland, with my surfer-boy fiancée and our dog called Cruz. My work is influenced by many things. I love the play between man and beast, the influence of pop culture on broader society and the warm fuzzy's created by nostalgia. I blend all the things that bring me joy into objects and items for other to enjoy. On the side, I like cooking from scratch, the fact that birds don't like to be watched while they eat and anything small and vessel-like. I am a homebody, I love sunshine, potatoes, the reward kisses that follow and I would do anything for the love of trees. My biggest revelations happen in the shower, I believe political correctness is overrated, politicians get paid far too much and authenticity is vital. I hope you enjoy my creations. |
